: And in other news… (since my last post was rather dismal and depressing)
I started dating someone recently, which is not something that I am publicising with the people I live and work with. It is such a goldfish bowl here that I really don’t want to have people asking/talking about my personal life over breakfast, or thinking that it is somehow appropriate that they know every single detail of my life.
And what has been surprising about this relatinship is that its easy. And uncomplicated. And comfortable.
So what is he like? At work, he is your typical in-charge, alpha male military type who issues orders and runs the show. Outside of work, he has a different side, and is soft and cuddly and sweet (although I am frequently told to never, ever refer to him being sweet to any other person because it would ruin his image!). He is also very, very smart, and reads a lot – its been a while since I’ve dated anyone who reads a lot. And for blogging purposes, he will be known as the Alpha Marshmellow.
We really seem to be struggling to get our timing right though – we started dating, then I went home to Australia to deal with the house paperwork, then I came back and he went on vacation a few weeks later. I was in Cairo and he was back in the Sandbox – we literally passed each other, heading in opposite directions. And we now have about 2 weeks together before I go on vacation for 3 weeks. Our timing seems to be impeccably bad.
With him, I feel like I can breathe and be myself. And that is kind of nice in this environment.
