: Wishing Chips

We’ve all heard of wishing wells and what not. Have you heard of something called “wish chip”? Neither did I until today when a colleague explained it. A chip that is folded is called a wish chip.

You make a wish, eat the chip and apparently your wish will come true. This superstition has been passed on to so many kids in the West that its not a superstition anymore, it’s more like a tradition. It’s like the eyelash-wish superstition; when an eyelash falls on your cheek, you are supposed to place it on the outside of your palm, wish on it and blow it away. And then wait for your wish to come true. I used to do that religiously during my school days thanks to *some* friends who had told me about it :P Remember how people would make a wish before blowing out the candles on their birthday cake?
Coming back to the wish chip topic, I found several ‘wish chips’ in a packet of Lays and yep, I made wishes on all of them :D
